Interview with winners of the Logical Olympiad 2013

Jindřiška Hrubá

After the winners were announced and prizes for victories handed over, photographs were taken, and then I had the opportunity to perform an interview with all of them.

I asked all of them the same questions:

What are your first impressions about your victory? Who is going to be pleased the most by your victory? Are you happy with the prize - a laptop? Are you going to use the free voucher for a Mensa IQ test?

Martin Dedek, Category A:

  • I’m happy.
  • My parents and my brother will be especially happy about my victory.
  • I am really happy about the computer, I will finally have one of my own. So far, I have been sharing one with my brother.
  • I will probably use the IQ testing voucher, but I haven’t given it much thought so far.

Pavel Hudec, Category B:

  • I’m happy, I was doing my best to win.
  • My parents and perhaps my classmates will be pleased by the achievement. I have no siblings.
  • Of course I will use the computer. I however already have computers I can use at home (which was followed by a list of several models and their specifications), we just have an old and outdated printer.
  • I will use the Mensa voucher.

Ondřej Motlíček, Category C:

  • I’m happy I managed to win in the older category as well. Last year, I won in the B category.
  • I will share my joy with my friends and my family.
  • I’m definitely happy about the computer, and I’m going to use it a lot.
  • I have already taken the Mensa IQ test, and I was successful. I will become a Mensa member at the earliest opportunity.

I asked Pavel an additional question:

Are you going to participate next year in the Logical Olympiad to win the printer?

Pavel Hudec, Category B:

  • I will participate, but definitely not to win the printer – the printer is won by the runner-up. I never fight for second place.

Thank you, guys, and let me wish you a happy journey back home, a lot of enjoyment with the prizes, and good moods at home and at school. And, hopefully, let’s meet next year!
