Conclusions to the Logical Olympiad 2011

Tomáš Blumenstein

This year of the Logical Olympiad culminated on Monday, 28. 11. 2011, with the finals in the building of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. Over the last four years, this competition has become the biggest Mensa project, with more than 32,300 competitors participating this year.

In the regional rounds, we managed to increase the number of regional “shows” for the competitors to six (out of fourteen regions), and the finals were again the festive event for the best of the best from the entire Czech Republic. Another significant change was the introduction of a third age category, which made the competition available to all pupils and students from primary schools to the last years of grammar schools. Most of all, however, I would like to thank all 120 organizers, because it was only thanks to their efforts that the competition ran so smoothly. I would like to especially thank to the team members who were responsible for individual parts of the project, namely Zuzana Poláková (PR), Pavel Celba (technical side), Hana Kalusová (economy), Hana Studenská (regional rounds), and Čestmír Kalus (contest tasks). All 120 volunteers helped to push the Logical Olympiad (and, by inference, Mensa CR) another step further, and I hope that they will continue to do so next year.
