Englisova Primary School, Opava
Englisova Primary School in Opava is an outstanding state school that has repeatedly received awards from various organizations. To name just a few, the school was awarded the "Parents welcome" title for its forthcoming approach, communication, and co-operation with parents; the “Active school” certificate was achieved thanks to above-standard care in pupils’ development. For the second time, the school has been selected by workers of the Czech School Inspectorate and the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports to represent the Czech Republic in the international comparison of schools, called PISA 2012. This Programme for International Student Assessment has been organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) since 2000. PISA 2012 is already the 5th cycle of this programme, and more than 60 countries are involved (including 295 schools in the Czech Republic). Detailed results from our school have not been published yet, but its teachers are hopeful of very good results again.
