The website deti.mensa.cz celebrates its first birthday!
The website deti.mensa.cz was launched by the end of 2012, due to the ever increasing range of Mensa CR activities aimed at gifted children, their parents, and teachers. On an international scale, Mensa CR is doing exceptionally well in the field of these activities. Projects such as the Mensa Grammar School and Logical Olympiad are unique among Mensa organizations worldwide. All of that led the Executive Board of Mensa CR to the decision to create a dedicated website for the presentation of Mensa activities for gifted children, and thereby to give it greater visibility than it had before 2012.
Mensa CR undertakes a multitude of activities focused on the development of gifts and talent. A vast majority of these is organized by Mensa volunteers who dedicate their leisure time to the children, practically without any reward. The deti.mensa.cz website aims to facilitate the presentation of these Mensa activities, as well as to give the opportunity to other subjects organizing events for gifted children to promote themselves. In the following years, we expect a gradual increase in the number of Gifted Children’s Clubs, as well as of co-operating schools and kindergartens. We are also planning to further improve the content and the range of information on the website. Visits to the website during the first year of its existence
Picture commentary: Within the one year that has passed since the website was officially launched, it has recorded over 32,000 visitors. The graph indicates the periods of greater and lower attendance. The highest numbers were recorded during the Logical Olympiad (registration in September, the competition itself in October and November). The irregular peaks correspond with mentioning Children’s Mensa on Czech TV, or with the publication of an interesting article shared by people over Facebook or other social networks. The weakest attendance was, as was expected, during the Christmas and summer holidays.
