Regional round of the Logical Olympiad 2014 in Hradec Kralove
On Friday, 7th November, a regional round of the Logical Olympiad took place in the Hradec Králové Region, just like in the remaining regions of the Czech Republic. In all, over 150 participants, who succeeded against a competition of 2,555 registered pupils and students from the region, competed in the Hradec regional round in three categories.
The base of the organizing team consisted of experienced members of the local Hradec Králové Mensa group, who participated in organizing the event in the previous years as well. As we have decided to try out a more demanding option this year, i.e., to announce the results immediately after the competition, we have built on last year’s successful co-operation with the University of Hradec Králové, and we reinforced our team with students from the Faculty of Informatics and Management, who significantly contributed towards the successful course of the regional round. Thanks to the grants by the Hradec Králové Region, as well as the Statutory City of Hradec Králové, the winners in every round were pleased, besides their great results in the competition, also by new tablets; competitors up to the fifth place received e-book readers, external hard disks, or board games. We would also like to thank the Hradec Králové Region for providing us with the premises for the regional round. We would also like to thank Natura DK, a.s., for their gift of money that helped us to provide small refreshments for the competitors.
